well just what else would be on your mind if you were the pilot and the chopper was in the mountains looking for someone to rescue. Naw! we don't want red heads today. you may have evoled from a blond. This would add much to getting the red head to the proper authorities for further key boarding by you.

My red hair comes from my Norwegian grandfather so maybe it has to do with being easy to spot in the snow. That and the Viking rampages of course.
I believe that red hair is a very dominant gene.

No that is not it. Speaking as a red-head myself I can say with a high degree of certainty that the reason why we red-heads have developed red hair is to set ourselves apart from the common folks possessing brown, blonde, or black hair.
