Ok, Smith flys an Alien craft back to the mother ship or whatever to blow it away.
Now this craft was found in the 50's are they trying to tell me that in 40+ years the Aliens here haven't upgraded their aircrafts? WTF???
Please, if we were in WW3 right now and the enemy of USA has a fighter from Korean or Vietnam War that they wanted to trick us by decoying in this old fighter by landing on a American soil or Aircraft-carrier that we wouldn't question this?
I liked the movie, but please don't treat us like were DMF's, come up with a better scenario.
So my question is as a alien race is smart enough to make force fields and space ships but the one found at rozwell is ancient compared to what they should have upgraded too.
So how could they be stupid enough to let a 40 + some year old craft come back to base and be fooled?

Even in WWII we had countermeasures against this type of scenerio. They're called IFF (Identify Friend or Foe) systems and almost all armys use them
What I wondered was why didn't they use the craft Smith brought down in the desert? That surely would have had proper identification and would have made alot more sense.

Hmm, the F-15 and F-16 have been in service since the early 70's and are still in use today; we still use planes whose designs are over 30 years old. The F/A-18 has been around since 1980 and is still in use today; that's a design over 25 years old. The F-22 is the only new fighter aircraft in use today of which there are a grand total of 54 in service because of the prohibit cost of approximately $200 million per plane.
The F-15 and F-16 are likely to still be in use for another decade which will up its service time to 40+ years, so yeah, it can happen.
As far as the movie is concerned, it's plausible that the mothership thought it was a long lost reconnaissance spacecraft. I'm sure if Amelia Earhart's plane radioed for landing clearance tomorrow, everybody and there cousin would be thinking . o (WTF!! Let her land and find out what the heck happened.)

Yeah. The movie is seriously flawed. They wrote themselves into a corner, and the whole ending was written on several errors in the house of cards.
I thought the movie was crap because of mistakes. I am with you. I can't be entertained if I feel they are insulting my intelligence. fantasy is one thing, but your plot still has to be solid.
They lost me when they were in the tunnel and a firestorm explosion occurs. A huge fireball with cars blowing end over end. Yet, our star only has to jump around a corner to avoid it. She would have died.
As for the foiled alien invasion:
The ship is 40 year old - they would be able to see that
The aliens were telepathic. Didn't realize there were malicious humans in the craft not their own kind.
They uploaded a virus from a human computer. It was somehow compatible.
The 40 year old alien on ship computer could communicate. I can't get human computers that are 7 years different to share data.
70 Mistakes listed at movie mistakes.

Several movies have made similar mistakes. I allowed thetheater-goers "willing suspension of disbelief" to carry me through the movie, but later I started to really ponder the question.
On the one hand these guys are so far beyond we can barely comprehend their science. On the other, these such dimwits that they stripped their own planet bare & Have to ravage the galaxy "like locusts" to get the resources they need.
What I came up with, is that they've been so busy zipping around & gobbling up planets that they've neglected their technology except for weapons & "harvesting" research & development.
Do you remember how BIG those ships were, and how MANY of the critters there were? I mean, jeeze, they haven't even figured out birth control yet.

Yes, I agree with u. however, this is just a movie to entertain us, not for us to crack our brain to find their flaws and questioned their mistake. A movie, to me, means fake scenario, not 100% REAL, if u know what I mean, just like the Da Vinci Code, when everyone has doubts about the scenes but in the end, it is just a movie.

It's one of my favorite movies, too, and, just like you, I've wondered the same thing. Plus, I wondered why that one alien didn't use his telepathic powers to warn the mothership that Smith was on his way to blow them up. It's lame, but it's still entertaining.
