There is all this talk that for your site to rank well with google, other websites need to link to yours. How come I see tons of websites
with out a links page that are ranking well? What do they do to get others to link to their website? I would figure most websites would
ONLY link to yours if you link to theirs.

I see tons of webmaster forums online and they all have basically the same content. Yet they have tons of other sites linking to theirs with out them having a links page to exchange links.

Are there other ways to receive good search engine placement?

if you get traffic to your site, search engines will index your webiste, and also it will take your keywords and give importance to your keyword. so traffic is the most important thing in internet,

there are two things:
1) one is traffic
1) second is quality traffic

am talking about a website which has a 500 arround alexa traffic rank, and about 6/10 google's page rank.

get a free back link from this site, get a lot of free traffic, in this site you get free credits, and with that you get free traffic.

everything is free, http://www.trafficswarm.com/go.cgi?53747...
just get some easy traffic, also first 50 credits will activate you account, and then you will get your 100 free credits, then on you get free credits, with that you get free traffic.

get a disclaimer, privacy policy, terms and conditions, site maps, etc, these helps rankings,

also http://www.harmu.com for paid quality traffic, advertise on time basis, not on cost of clicks,

If you've been around the forums you should have seen by now that "exchanged links" seem to carry less weight than "inbound links". The problem came from all the link exchange farms that sought to circumvent Google's need to show quality sites.

Better links come from sites that you don't link back to. The question than becomes,"Why would a website give you a link without an exchange?"

Two answers. 1) For money, you pay them to link to you. 2) Your success is good for them. Consider getting your suppliers to give your site a link (if you are product based).

There are other ways to get rank, as well.

I'm looking to trade some links. I have several sites and will link from my #2 & #4 site for a link to my #1 & #3 site.

Must be US &/or Canadian primarily.

Anyone interested?
