What engine would you like to put on your GMC S15-Sonoma/Chevrolet S10 pickup? Me I would put in either a 4.3 Liter V6 or a 350ci V8, I think that the 2.5 Liter V4's and the 2.8 Liter V6 motors were gutless and they've gotten wise in 1988 by putting in a 4.3 Liter V6 motor :)

I would go with the 4.3L some of the earlier vortec engines had problems with the fuel injector leaking. It has a single injector with six legs coming off of it. when I was a mechanic we called it a spider. I'm sorry I don't remember what years were bad but I know around 1999 they fixed the problem. The vortec is a More powerful engine and more fuel efficient as well. I knew a guy who put a 350 in a S10 and he had a real nightmare making it work. When he got it done he was talking about poring concrete in the bed because he couldn't keep the wheels from spinning.

a 4.3 is just a 350 with 2 of its balls chopped off! the only good 4.3 they built was with a turbo. I would either leave the stock in-line 4 for economy, or squeeze in the nastiest small block i could(383 or more). It might be cool to put in an emissions legal camaro or vette 350 and keep it street legal. Even better would be an ls2.

LS1 all the way still go through the emisions test and make wicked power dead tires for sure might take a winter to get the fab work done but i bet i would be the only s15 that had a LS1

Go with the 4.3.. if its a 1988 or later its a drop in fit...the frame rails on earlier models are slightly closer so you may have some exhaust clearance problems... go with the Vortec...smoother running engine..also more HP..

Yes the 4.3 is allot better and the 2.8 is one hella of a crap motor any ways. I dont think you can find one that does't have a rod nock when running. 2.8 yuck

I have a 2000 Extreme with a ZZ4 383. It's a blast to drive if you can get traction!
