not lost in the American Revolution and had held onto the colonies in the US and continued to expand, would Britain have been able to conquer the World?

Great Britain's loss of the American Revolution was inevitable because the Americans will to rule themselves was greater than British Government's will to rule them. However I'll play the game.

My answer is no, they wouldn't have. It's simple math really. One nation can really only effectively rule as many nations as it's capable of keeping in submission. It's like babysitting 12 kids at once. They're really well behaved when you're in the room with them, but as soon as you go to check on the kids outside they start writing on the walls and putting the cat in the dryer. Eventually the power of numbers always prevails.

What makes you think they do not hold the colonies. The USA reads the bible of a British King, like the much of the world speak their language, uses British measurement, within a year or 2 after the "Revolution," Treasurer Hamiliton approached Britian for commerce collaboration. They have always been business & military partners. Britain owns more land in the USA than any foreign entity.

Britain had already conquered the world and to this day remains the biggest empire ever to grace the planet. We only became so weak after the second world war beacuse of the american policy of making us sell our Empire before it would lend us any money. In the words of the Great Cecil Rhodes" I can see no good reason why Great Britain should not annexe the entire world"

I think probably. Look how long Britain had a hold over the colonies. Britain was small and very powerful. But - I guess we will never really know.

Once upon a time they had conquered a significant proportion of the world. Alas, they went on to loose most of what they had gained.... Maybe that's why they won't let Ireland have the Northern part of their country back - trying to keep hold of what little they have left.

Who wants to conquer anything?
Better to live a harmonious life with everyone than be constantly looking over our shoulders in fear all the time like Americans have to.
