When I turn on my car it turns slow and sounds like it wont start for a secound. When my key is in the on position(when the engine isnt on). My check engine light is on and my battery light is on. My battery is about a year or 2 years old so I dont know if that is it. Could this be my starter? How do I check my starter or battery to see if that is the problem? I can replace them myself but I dont know how to figure out what the problem is.

OK, LOOK, what you trying to say is, my engine cranks very slow before It starts, and then at the last second, It Finlay starts,

you need, a starter, that's cheap compared to a lot of other things, to verified, you need to perform a "starter draw test", this will tell you If Indeed the starter is failing and using a huge amount of energy just to turn, best bet, ask a knowledgeable friend, don't do it If your not capable, you ll waist money and possibly ruin stuff along the way, some muffler shops will be nice and check this free if you explain your self and they know Its just a draw test you want, a draw test is so easy, you crank the engine while reading an electrical test tool clipped on the battery terminals, that's it, UNLESS YOU NEED A........................................

Usually just a bad battery terminal connection. Hit with hammer (on SIDE of battery terminal, make it move if you can), see if that helps. If it moves, clean and tighten it. Also, may be connection at starter. Crawl under car, get greasy and dirty and shine up connection. Then try.

If none of them, check oil. You may be nearly empty.

If that's not it either, then take starter off and take to good auto parts store. They will test it for you for free. If it's broke, you must buy another. Buy a rebuild. They are as good as any new one.

An eletcrical problem, especially one concerning that particular system is always a pain. You're going to need a check of those things, battery, starter etc, ect,. With that stuff, I wouldn't try to tell you how to correct it in YA. Sooo take it to the shop, it's not going to cost you an arm and a leg, you'll know exactly what the trouble is. .........LATER.....

Sounds like starter or fuel pump. Not the cheapest car problem in the world, but totally fixable. Get a few estimates if you can before having it fixed.

It may be your starter or your alternator. I know some people buy rebuilt ones instead of brand new ones to save money. Hope u figure it out and get it fixed quickly, goodluck.
