communism is a total political and social system not just an economic system and it means the control of the means of production by the workers, the control of the work place by the people who work there. this only happened briefly in Russia after the revolution, then was crushed by the intellectual elitists of the Bolsheviks. Lenin and his cohorts perverted the term dictatorship of the proletariat, which should be imposed with the informed consent of the people, Lenin imposed a state corporatist dictatorship, where the government own the means of production not the people. communism must not be imposed by violent means or even by deception it must be accepted willingly by an educated population, and i don't mean educated by propaganda, the people must be free to see and understand all sides of an argument. so therefore, real communism is a loooong way off, if at all. there have been no communist nations yet only state corporatist dictatorships, vanguard party oligarchies. on the other hand, Marx offered a matchless analysis of how the free market worked, how profit levels and employment rise and fall over cyclic periods, boom and bust and a Marxist analysis is often used, even by free market economist. power to the people, ( one day if it's acceptable to them).
