We can't say definately because when we found Indus Civilization in near about 1921 the evidences proves that there is connection between Sumerian and Indus Civilization for the purpose of trade. For example The Coins and other things found at Indus area are also found at Uar, Lagash, Tel , Asmar in Sumeria. But we know the exact time period Sumerians ( 3000bc to 1500 bc ) so we can conclude the time period of Indus Civilization.

Now in between these two which is First can not say perfectly.

I think the availability of information on Ancient Egypt is the main contributor to this mistaken impression. While the Sumerian civilization is far older, there isn't as much information available. Just do a google search and you'll see that this is true. I wasn't able to find half as much information on the Sumerian civilization as I was on Egyptian civilization. Since the tomb of Tutankamun was found in 1922, Egypt fever has gripped millions, myself included. It is a shame that it is so hard to find information on potentially the oldest civilization in history, but that seems to be the way it is.

Within the Sumerian civilaizations, it appears that Akkadian was the very, very first. This is determined not only by archaeological evidence, but also linguistic. Every language has a root or roots, for example English has Latin, Greek, and Germanic roots (among others). A study was done where they traced the roots of all languages of all civilizatiuons as far back as they could go and it was found that the root of ALL languages is Akkadian.

This is what I found:- Sumerians were among the earliest Civilizations, not that they were actually the first.

They are among the earliest that we have a record of. Since 'civilization' only means 'living in cities,' it is entirely possible that there were others much earlier that we simply don't know about because they left no records that survived until now.

"History begins at Sumer" was and still is to a degree the motto held by academics. It is taking time to chip away at the strongly held notion as new evidence emerges of contemporary civilizations that were not influenced by Sumer in their development.

Hard to say since archaeological evidence is lacking for the origin of the "Sumarians".....
Cities, law, [written] language, irrigation ..etc etc etc
were they the first???? they are among the earliest for which written records have been found...but it seem likely that even they had "stood on the shoulders of giants"..

Yes they were, living in Mesopotamia. That is why Mesopotamia is called the "cradle of civilization". They invented the wheel and many important innovations.

Who knows? It is hard to tell. Many civilizations existed at that time and they all might have had written languages.
