Can you stay at the top when everybody else think you're getting too arrogant and too cocky?
Every great empire/nation/country in history has had a Achilles heel...
Will going against every international influence be the US ( besides Britain) downfall?

Proud 2be american,
WTF? Yes I am american...did I say I wasn't????
My question was in regards to what the world think of us not what I think of the US !!!!
Before you accuse me of being phony, understand the question first!
By the way, I have a strong suscpicion that the image people have of us has something to do with people like you!!
I can't be as close minded as you I'm afraid and I don't have patience for people that willingly choose to be morons ( I can tolerate the ones that were born that way so let me know if you fall into that category)

Unfortunately for us, there is truth to it. We do a lot of good around the globe which we are almost never given credit for, but at the same time we make a lot of enemies.

Wonder what would happen if we decided to bring everyone home. Close our borders to in coming and open the exit gate. Call in all loans. Then set up to protect ourselves only and let the rest of the world fight for themselves.
The US has been the most generous country the world has ever known. We have come to the aid of more people in more countries than any other country. Happy to do it. And we'll do it again.
Our downfall will come from within unless something tragic happens and gets us all pulling in the same direction. Too bad we can't get our act together now, before something happens.

The fall of the US will be due to lack of intelligence in this country. By the year 2040 I guarantee America will be nothing but the worlds largest melting pot. Although we have this title upon us at this moment, it is nothing compared to the many mixed races, uncertain voters, and easily swayed politicians that enivitablly lie ahead. I am afraid for the safey of my future children. What kind of society will they live in when morals are lacking and critical thinking skills are at a mere minimum.
I do not think in any way the US is acting cocky or arrogant. If anything we are acting humble to show generosity to other countries. I think we sometimes do this too much and we should, instead, be looking after our own well being; nonetheless, we are certainly far from being arrogant. In fact, I am sometimes afraid to say where I am from when I am out of the country because many countries now view us as moranic fools who are always up in feud amongst themselves.
Unfortunately the "achilles heel" of many great empires were not the jealousy or rage of another country but of their own people. And, sadly, I am afraid this will be the fate of America as well. May God Bless America!!

No.. not while all of western civilization is facing the same enemy.. When they get attacked, I wonder who they will call on to help them defend themselves? Is the very reason most of the efforts are directed toward the US.. if we can be toppled, the remainder of the civilized world will fall like dominos.. is a good plan but requires the US to lie down and give up. Something they will never do. We know others will need our help in their time of disasters. Is why we have to remain strong. At that time you will appreciate us similar to the end of the ww2., and ww1. and a few skirmished since then.

George Bush has no conception. Remember a news report a couple of years ago when he was shocked that we were so disliked?
He's not real bright. On his way to South America for an economic summit, he looked up at a map and exclaimed, "Wow, Brazil's really big!"
A third-grader should know that.
Things don't look good for us, do they?!

Who is being arrogant and cocky here La Belle?
As for alienating the rest of the world. I'd say you are exagerating just a little too much.
I just did alittle research on you La Belle. You are American. Or at least you claim to be in another of your posts by referring to "our justice system". Why are you trying to stir up trouble?
Here are a few parts of another one of La Belle's questions...
Titled..
"Why are people so fanatical on here?"
"It's incredible how people get worked up on this forum..
Its Liberal vs Conservatives, Chritians vs Atheists, Gays vs Hetero, Blacks& Asians vs Blacks& Hispanics...
Apparently if you're not for one, you're against it and therefore be called names! Can people have normal, decent and intelligent debates without having everybody trying to label you??"
Doesn't this make you a bit of a hypocrite La Belle? These are words you typed and then you have the gall to pronounce in this thread that Americans are arrogant and cocky? Didn't you just label us? Your fellow Americans? You called us names which is something you condemn in another thread. On top of that you are practically wishing the destruction of your own country.
Your mind is warped La Bella and you are phony.

No, I don't think that at all. Most of the world have alienated themselves from reality, in the same manner that liberals have accomplished that feat.

Placating the rest of the world has alienated most of the world from the US. We have no need of them and they are are enemies in fact and always have been.

Yes, in the form of a nuclear bomb in a major US city. Probably a liberal city on one of the coasts. Very sad.
