It takes approxamitly 10,000 years for the light/heat to go from the center of the sun to the photosphere due to the intense gravity and magnetic feild. It takes aproxamitly 8 minutes for that same light/heat to reach the Earth

It is 5 minutes. If the sun were to blow up, it would take 5 minutes for us to realize it is gone.
