Check out www.give.org. The information on this site is provided by Better Business Bureau.

You can check out detail information of most charities:
- programs they sponsor,
- how much the board members and executive are paid,
- how much money do they spend on administration and overhead versus on actual charity work.
- where are their funds coming from

Regardless of where you are going to give, it is always a good idea to check them out on this site. Too many charities are spending much of their money of paying staffs and fund raising rather than deliverying the programs that they promised.

There are many different charity focusing on peace building. On the global level, there are Global Nonviolent Peaceforce, Global Peace Initiative etc. On the more local level, there is Peace Action Education Fund. Depending on your scope of peace building, International Justice Mission or Southern Poverty Law Center, I would consider them peace building as well.

Best wishes.
