A little wager between me and My buddy is what spawned this question. Bith cars are completely stock, The Trans-am has a 305 V8 Single Barrel Carboratuer.

The Mitsubishi 3000 GT will beat the Pontiac TransAm, because of horsepower, torque and weight. When driving, on an acceleration (not from dead-stop) the manual transmission Mitsu will out-accelerate the Pontiac TransAm.

As a proud owner of 30th An Z28 and a long follower of as F-body cars as well as other performance cars....I can tell you this....if you're talking stock....the Mits well kick that Trans Ams butt!....those f-body are THE slowest of the 4 generation, and before anybody starts responding to what I said, I know about the 20th An Trans AM with the grand national engine, But we're not talking about that one...the early 80's Trans Am and Camaro's were horribly under power under, well under 200 hp...and the last time I checked the Mits...it was 320hp with the turbo and about 230 for the 6!....and should be an automatic so I can't even say the Trans Am had a chance if he missed 2nd gear....good luck Trans AM...
P.S. and anybody that did the 1\4 mile in 16.1,16.0 or even 15 and anything in a 5.7 liter Z28 (93 and up) can't drive!!

once drag'd a 350 z28 (basically the same) and it did 16.1 down the quarter....mitsi would do better than that?!!
