I would describe it as a thickish glob (or multiple globs) of yellowish or tan or pink streaked gelatinous stuff. I know this because I have had three kids of my own and recall seeing mine in the toilet two of those times. A lot of women don't notice when they pass them though.
I also know this because I am an OB nurse and believe it or not someone brought one to the hospital with them to as what it was (thanks!) It's not something you've seen before and if that's what it looks like, it's probably your mucous plug. Don't panic yet though, labor could be tonight or still several weeks away. It just means the cervix is starting to dilate and efface (open and thin out) so that glob has loosened and made it's way out.

When I went into labour I felt like I had to have a bowel movement..I was in and out of the bathroom for like an hour .. nothing was happening and then I sat again thinking I had to, I peed a little and when I wiped myself there was a thick clear pink goo on the tissue. This was the mucus plug. And then after being in labour for a few hours I was in the shower and I had really hard fast contractions and more of the clear pink stuff came out. My water didnt break on its own though .. the doctor did that after.
What you have expirienced could be the start of your labour...and that could have been some of the plug. If you are really concerned go to the hospital and get checked out. They doctor or nurse will most likley do an internal exam to see if you have started dialating.. the worst is they will send you home and tell you to come back when the contractions get further together or you expirience ALOT of discharge.

I lost my mucus plug twelve hrs b4 I went into labor. It was clear and very much like thick egg white- abit thicker and stickier though. Every persons experience is different. Id call the hospital and tell them to expect you in the next few days, but remember to follow your own instincts and insist on being seen by a doctor or midwife if that what you feel you want to do. When my contractions started I kept being sent away from the hospital because they expected my first labor to last twelve to fourteen hours, after an hour I insisted on a routine internal examination and sure enough my bub was on his way out! Half an hour later he was born. One of the first signs is feeling like you need to poo but nothing comes out and the pressure doesn't subside. Good luck and try to relax- your mind may be freaked out but your body knows what to do!

A mucus plug may be clear, slightly pink or blood tinged in color. It may be stringy mucus or sticky discharge. Some women may not even notice the loss of their mucus plug because there is already so much vaginal discharge during pregnancy.
If your mucus seems normal in color, there is no need to contact your doctor immediately. You can inform your doctor on your next visit.
But if your discharge is bright red and the amount is more than an ounce (abt 2 tblsp) call you doctor immediately.
Hope this helps

When i had my second son I lost my Mucus plug after i got up from going to the bathroom. (The best way i can describe it) To me it looked kinda snotty (yellowish and clear) You can loose your mucus plug and be okay but if you feel any pain it could mean your going into labor. I went into labor right after it happend but every person is diffrent. You should most def call the doc.

When I lost mine, I knew immediately. It was a big glob of nasty mucusy bloody looking stuff. Shortly after I went into hard labor. But for everyone it's different honestly. I've had 3 kids but only lost my plug with one of them. But I definately knew right away that's what it was.

as icky because it sounds, that's dwindled white, yellow, eco-friendly or all the above. merely like mucous. Dont freak out nevertheless, that is completely typical. some is often tinged w/a splash of blood. All very typical...you would be going into exertions everywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. solid success to you!!

dont pay attention to that plug thing, if your water breaks or if you start havin pains, then worry...most people dont even know when they loose the plug.....but if your 38 weeks, you can bust anytime so dont go far and make sure your hospital suitcase if ready....have fun!!
my private would hurt sooo much, i dont know why, my doc said it was just the bones moving apart getting ready but that didnt happen with my first one, only the second lil thing i got runnin around...
