My boyfriend is a very hardworking man. Sometime he works 16 hour days, they need 16 drivers but they only have 7 which explains why he works so long and hard. He delivers oxygen tanks to sick people all day long and they weigh 160+ lbs. Sometimes he has to lift several tanks up may flights of stairs. He gets very sweaty and dirty during the day. How do I get the dirt stains out of his clothes, he doesnt smell, his deodorant works good, but his clothes are still stained after washing. I use all Gain products which work good on the rest of the families clothes, but what can I use for his. The uniforms he wears get dark around the regular spots, the collar, the wrists, the chest. I love to see him in a fresh, clean crisp uniform. What will help get those dark spots out????

Regular old Ivory bar soap does the trick for colors. Soak it in cold water and rub the bar across the stains. You can also use a scrub brush that won't harm the fabric. It may take more than one attempt, but it'll work. Just don't stick it into the dryer if the stain is still there! Give the bar soap another shot.

Or: Sprinkle some cornstarch or baking soda on the stain, then place the garment, stain side down, on a large rag on top of an ironing board. Iron with a hot iron on the wrong side of the stain --most oil and grease stains will come right out. (This trick works only for oil and grease, which need heat to dissolve.)

Or: OxyClean. It's good for almost every area of the house and great at working out any kind of stain. You may also want to try just soaking the shirt in vinegar to loosen up the oils before throwing them in the wash. Maybe as an extra precaution, throw a box of baking soda into the bottom of his dirty laundry container to try to soak up some of the excess sweat if they sit for any period of time before wash day.

I work in a crummy dirty factory(!) I swear by Era detergent...nothing else. I sometimes throw in some Oxy clean with the detergent (and even let it soak awhile before washing). But on any kind of individual stains, I will squeeze on Dawn dish soap. Most people at work use this method. I hope you give it a try. Hope it works! (I don't care for Gain...sorry)

Try using Era Plus, and always pre-treat the clothes with the detergent and let them sit for a while before washing. if your washer has prerinse cycle, use that. Tide also sells a little battery operated scrubber brush that shoots out detergent and works really great too!
