Georgie Poorgie - It's going on 20 years now for the Tigers.
As for the idiot who said that the Yankees can't stop spending: They could have signed Beltran for $20 million less than what the Mets were offering but declined because it would have cost too much in salary tax to have the guy. The Yankees draw almost, if not, 4 million people a year at their stadium. When they are on the road, the stadiums they play at receive the highest number of attendance for those games than any other team in baseball. It's a fact, look it up. Bottom line is that across the board, the Yankees are GOOD for baseball. Oh, and their ticket prices aren't that high. Maybe YOU just need to get a better job.

Yankees still have a few years to go to match the Atlanta Braves streak of 14 consecutive division titles.
As for the Red Sox dropping 10 games in the standings in less than a month, that happens all the time. In 1995, the Seattle Mariners came from 13 1/2 games back in mid-August to catch the California Angels (which means the Angels dropped 13 1/2 games in the standings in 6 weeks).
In 1951, the year that Bobby Thompson hit the "Shot Heard Round The World", the New York Giants were also 13 1/2 games behind the Brooklyn Dodgers on August 11th. Then the Giants won 16 straight games and 37 of 44 to tie the Dodgers.
But more often than not, losing 10 or more games in the standings usually happens to the team that's chasing, so it's not as dramatic as the division leader losing a lead of 10 or more games.

I'm sure Red Sox fans are very disappointed. Injuries and poor pitching doomed Boston this year. The Yankees had a second half that left the rest of the division in shambles. I think the Red Sox must go out and find some real pitching talent in the off-season if they ever hope to compete with this very talented Yankee team in the future.

Hey mgctouch - Like the Yankees didn't have any injuries. You didn't see the Yankees complaining, they just went out every day and played their guts out. All Boston did was cry the blues as soon as someone got a paper cut. :You Red Sox fans are losers. You might as well hold up a sign next season on opening day, "Wait Till Next Year" because the Yankees will continue to own you for years to come. Hey don't cry, 2090 is just around the corner. And this is coming from a Phillies fan.

The Red Sox were overrated. 2004 was a fluke, strangely, I was living in Boston that year. The Red Sox keep complaining about the Yankees, yet they have the second highest pay roll and they can't even make the playoffs while teams like the Twins will.

They probably hate it.
But as for you : don't dish it if you can't take it.
What if the Sox beat the Yankees this weekend?
Are you going to ask : "Yankees? What Happened?"
Don't be surprised if someone calls you on this question.
I hear a hurtin' & a hollerin' coming your way,
especially if the Sox win!

Typical Yankee fan.
Lacking the intelligence to see that the Red Sox were hit with a RASH of injuries to several of their key players.
I know that the Yankees had a number of injuries to contend with this season - but they were more spread out over the season and not all at once.
BTW, I am not a Yankee fan or a Red Sox fan. I am a fan of baseball who dislikes the cancerous Yankee ownership who's ultimate goal is to price the average fan out of all baseball games because he can't stop spending.

the things that hurt the sox were injuries and bad pitching. it all basically happened at once. plus the g.m. didn't make any trades this year either so that didn't really help us either.
as for the curse being back..not possible since the curse was reversed/ended after the sox won the world series.
