JubJub's answers from the old magazine are two things we old-wives still use: meat tenderizer (it's the monosodium glutamate ingredient -- you can just use plain msg, like the Accent brand) and soaking in salt water.
The other two methods are:
1. soak in vinegar (50/50 plain white vinegar and water). If this is a recurring problem, keep a filled spray bottle handy, and spray the area before washing.
2. soak in ammonia (about a quarter cup to a quart of water).
The vinegar method keeps the stains from occuring in the first place, and the ammonia is what you use to work on the stains that you already have.
Be sure, though, to rinse the ammonia out thoroghly afterward. And never to mix ammonia with bleach (toxic vapors).
These methods work not only with the yellowing armpit problem, but with ring-around-the-collar as well, or anyplace where perspiration stains my arise.

I don't know whether this will apply to fresh or old stains, but here are two solutions I just found:
1. Before you wash that sweat-stained shirt, dampen the stains and sprinkle meat tenderizer on them. Then go ahead and wash as usual.
2. Add a handful of kitchen salt to a quart of water, then soak the offending item for an hour. Wash as usual, and you'll never know which outfit you broke a sweat in.
I just thought about this one: add 1 cup of white vinegar to your clothes in the washing machine - launder as usual.
(It's known for removing baby's acidic urine.)

You can get a product in the grocery store - laundry aisle that is called "Yellow Out" - use as directed. However, some colors will change. Another product "DiDi Seven" has also said that it will take out body oil stains. You could try Oxy Clean - but it has never worked for me.

Drink plenty of water and consult a physician. Laundry may not be your biggest problem.
