Why would the man I just started working for say that he could bring his "ex" in to help me, but he's afraid it would be "awkward" for me? I've only been working with him for two weeks, I haven't even known him for a month. I could understand him saying this if we were planning the rest of our lives together as more than work related, but he has made no mention of such a relationship to me.

By "ex" he meant his ex-wife. They're actually just separated.

You're not living up to your name, are you, Sky? He might be thinking awkward in the way that you might be awkward when two of your friends are all smoochy-smoochy all the time. It could just indicate that there are still issues between him and his ex, particularly if you're working in a more intimate setting (like home office or something where you work one-on-one).

And it's possible he's gotten the wrong signals about you, but you might want to just keep that in the back of your mind, agree to the "ex" and see if things clear up.

Or he means he's never told you that his "ex" is your real mother who gave you up for adoption when you were an infant.

Finally, if he seems like an approachable guy, you might just ask him to clarify.

Who knows, he may be gay. His "ex" might be another man!!!
Just ask him, "Excuse me Mr. ____ , now just what did you mean the other day when you said you could bring your "ex" in to help me?"
Have some fun with the situation.

Sad to say...but it sounds like he may want a 3 way. I have heard of this before.

Maybe he meant the person who had the job before you, to help you as an overstudy?

Sounds like maybe he was refering to being awkward for him and her, possibly. Or he wants to get to know you better and it would just be awkward for you.
