haha! My grandmother used to say that all the time. Ticks suck blood until they get really big. They even change color from black to green. When people say that they are "full as a tick," it means that they have eaten so much food, that their stomachs are ten times the size of its original state. You might here this a lot at Thanksgiving!

Ticks latch on and drink blood until their bodies become engorged and filled out w/ the blood. To be full as a tick means that you are completely full the way they become when they are finished drinking blood.
