with the 21st ranked payroll in baseball manage to never whine constantly about the Yankees payroll, and also not always suck so bad like other teams that don't have the highest payroll.

Well, actually I just mean one other team that doesn't have the absolute highest payroll.

Look at the Marlins too. They have something like a $25 million payroll and they're on the verge of a Wild Card birth. Money isn't everything. Somehow, I don't think Steinbrenner will ever learn.

I know you said it isn't about Billy Beane, but I think it has something to do with him. I would recommend reading "Moneyball" by Michael Lewis. It's a great book that tracks Billy Beane and how he evaluates players to draft. Also, look at the Florida Marlins. They have the lowest payroll in the MLB ($14,998,500-the Devil Rays are in second with $35,417,967-more than twice that of the Marlins.) The Marlins have a shot at winning the Wild Card, and they will be a strong team for the future. Hermida, Uggla, Cabrera, Wilingham, Willis, Johnson, Sanchez, the list goes on and on.

Probably because they only have to beat out other teams with low payroll (i.e. the Angels, Rangers, and Mariners), while the Sox and Yanks are in the same division. So it's more important to the Red Sox. I can promise you if the A's and the Yankees were in the same division, they would complain just as much.

The baseball world will be much better when Steinbrenner passes on.

Well, Billy Beane basically. As an A's fan, though, I'm dying for them to take the next step and get at least to the ALCS. Problem is the vaunted pitching has let the team down time and again in the playoffs along with baserunning blunders (hello, Jeremy and Miggy!).

Billy Beane is an excellent GM although a little full of himself (And c'mon could the A's finally win a playoff series for once?). Money doesn't do any good if it is spent on the wrong people. I know my Mets have spent a lot of money the last two years but they spent it on the right people (Thank you Omar Minaya). They have spent a lot before and it's been a disaster (ie the Bobby Bonilla era).

Looking at your answers/questions, you seem to be focused on the red sox. You must constantly have sexual fantasies about them as you continually metion certain sexual acts in your posts.
