I've spent five years in Canada, and I see Canadians as being very mellow and reasonable. Canada as a country has a lot in common with Sweden and New Zealand, and it always seemed to me to be one of the more moderate, even generic places on the planet. Canadians are also among those very few nationalities who seem to be positive about foreigners' nationalities - I always felt accepted, without prejudice. I have nothing negative to say about Canadians other than the fact that there's an awful lot of flag-waving going on, but then, that's also common in NZ and Sweden, and isn't hurting anyone. And I think that best describes Canadians: They are assertive, but never offend.

I used to see them as a quieter version of us. But lately I have been reading a lot of really "superior", condescending comments about us. I don't know where it is coming from but sounds like some pent up anger and jealousy. Whats going on? I thought we were pretty much on the same page?

Literally or figuratively? One, with my eyes. Two, just like any other person. Your question needs to be more specific.
