This former corner car lot was raised recently which formerly was a Texaco station. I seen that they are digging deeper into the soil. Im just curious.

Here where I live there is a company that burns the soil. They put in a huge drum incinerator and raise the temp. extremely high. This burns off the contaminates them the soil is recycled. The steam from the incinerator is cleaned in a bag house so no escape of contaminates into the air.

Well they may be removing soil,but, another way to clean is soil remediation. Here is one source for an explanation.

They remove it and either clean the soil or dispose of it in a toxic landfill.

it has to be remove and disposed of in a hazard es waste dump, after it has time for gasses evaporate 18 to 24 mounths

depending on what the leak is. sometimes they will put the dirt in huge drum incinerators and burn the stuff out of it and then put the dirt back
