i'm born and raised in new york.. and even i have to admit that tupac was a better rapper.. for the same exact reasons you already stated.. he rapped about his life experiences and such.. and biggie.. well.. he rapped about getting laid and having money.. if you look up some of tupac's quotes, he sounds like he was such a brilliant guy

I think that they tie. K let me explain...
Tupac was a poet. His words express emotion. Wrote beautiful lyrics, real thought provoking words. Ever see him speak, like on a TV special or something? It's like you can't not hear what he's saying.
Biggie on the other hand, was a storyteller. He could make you envision what he was rhyming about, feel the experience, and understand fully what he was trying to say. His lyrical talent was unequalled for a long time. Some would say it still is.
He made things that didn't rhyme, rhyme. Put things that didn't fit, together, in such an amazing and profound way! Something that has been duplicated many times by now.
I respect these two artists very much. They were the game that's imitated cheaply all too often nowadays. Though there are a few small gleams of hope left....

Tupac. No doubt.
I'm not taking anything away from Biggie, but it's hard to be an 8 in the land of 10s

umm in my opinion Tupac was the greatest rapper ever to live. i say this because in his music he talks about things that inspires you. his words are uplifting. for example: he always said' keep ya head up'. eventho he had a difficult life, he was always positive. in his music he spoke about things you can relate to. unlike other rappers he didnt really rap about how much money he has or how many girls he slept with, he spoke about his life struggles and ways of overcoming problems. He always spoke the truth and always knew how to make u feel better. i listen to him whenever im down....like "Smile", and "Keep ya head up". RIP Tupac 1971-1996 (10 years)

I say that Tupac is a better lyricist but only because Biggie only had 1 album.

I agree...tupac of course! Tupac was more versatile, he is the model and showcase of a black man..and icon, a leader, a soldier, a poet...all of those things and more. His intelligence mixed with his street aura gave him a blazing edge.
-Hip-hop is really feeling his physical absence, but he still manages to feel hip-hop mentally.

Tupac. But it's so sad they both were murdered and didn't have a chance to show us more of their talent.
