Remember that the Red Sox had won 5 World Series titles before the Yankees had even played in their first Series (which they lost in 1921 to the New York Giants).
Remember that the Yankees started out as the Baltimore Orioles, didn't even gain the name of Yankees until 1913 (they were called the Highlanders when they moved to New York), and it wasn't until the Red Sox sold Babe Ruth to them that they became the baseball power they are (which maybe is karma getting back at the Red Sox).
But even with their 26 world titles and the fact they can afford to buy any player they want (hello? A-Rod?), the baseball world does NOT revolve around the Yankees. There's a very intriguing race in the NL West, where the Dodgers and Padres (and maybe the Giants) are battling for a playoff spot. There's a great race in the AL Central to see if the Tigers can hold on to the division with the Twins and White Sox coming on fast. There's a lot of great baseball being played outside of the northeast.

yo dawg these ****'n ****** suck........... yo the redsox r the best team in the MLB. The only ****'n reason that the sox wont make the playoffs ( and these ****'n ****** betta listen ) is becuze their pitching all got hurt the their key players all had problems of their own......... so its not cuz we suck...... cuz really we were down 3-0 in the 2004 alcs..... and we suck......
