In social animals, the alpha male or alpha female is the individual in the community whom the others follow and defer to. Where one male and one female fulfill this role, they are referred to as the alpha pair.
Chimpanzees show deference to the alpha of the community by ritualised gestures such as bowing, allowing the alpha to walk first in a procession, or standing aside when the alpha challenges. Canines also show deference to the alpha pair in their pack, by allowing them to be the first to eat and, usually, the only pair to mate; wolves are a good example of this.
In humans, the alpha male often refers to a man who is powerful or high on the social ladder. In western cultures, the term can be derogatory and describes a man who is overly masculine to the point of arrogance and cold-heartedness.

Alpha male is the leader of the pack. Of an entire group it is the male that is looked up to for advice. In human terms the alpha male is part of the personality and psyche of a person that influences the social interactions at a given moment. It can also be the father of a family who brings home the food and is allowed to sleep with the mum. In a school setting the alpha teacher is the teacher that students seek guidance from the most and hold in the highest esteem. The alpha student is the student that the other students adore and look up to for leardeship.
It is not a simple subject. Anybody that claims to be alpha, is not alpha, they are beta because they are trying to influence you. The alpha just is, he is chosen from a group as the person to seek for moral and intellectual support.

Nice question which will be answered by one!! The alpha male is the dominant male of a pack who gets to procreate. He is the healthier and consequently more fertile of all males around. Usually the alpha male is the one that leads the pack. It's can be applied to Wolves Dogs, Humans any mammal (creatures which are hot blooded and gives birth to babies.
