They're not. The law is the law and not even Bush is not above the law.

If you were plucked off the street, put into a secret prison where even your family did not know where you were, would that be okay? And let's just say, you were tortured & demeaned on top of it, and then when you asked for a lawyer or legal counsil they denied you that too. Would that be okay?

It is not a matter of liberals being worried about the terrorists rights. It is international law, specifically the Geneva Convention, that states POW's will not be tortured or demeaned to obtain information. Bush has set up secret prisons so that he can hide his intent to torture POW's. It was quite by accident that this was leaked to the citizens through media sources.

All Americans should care about how other countries view us. The world is watching us. 70% of other countries have voiced their disgust of Bush's policies. As an American citizen (and no, not a Liberal), I care that we are no longer viewed as a super power by other countries, don't you?

This is hard, because I don't know what I am; if I'm talking to a full-blown conservative, I probably would be a liberal; and if I'm talking to a full-blown liberal, I'd probably find that I'm more of a conservative.

well, i would consider myself somewhat liberal as opposed to what i understand to be the conservative "christo- fascist" types whose material i've read on this and other sites. anyway, i don't believe "liberals" hate the troops. what they hate is that a cabal of psychopaths has conned a substantial number of americans into believing that they (the crooks) really care about america, when in fact all they care about is themselves and their cronies all becoming richer at our expense (google "bush crime family"). also disliked is the fact that the crooks intend to do away with all personal liberties guaranteed by the constitution and create a dictatorial police state so that they can rip the country off more easily. protestors will just disappear or conveniently "commit suicide". ordinary folks don't believe this can or will happen, but that in fact is the plan if you do the research. unquestionably, the "islamists" are psychotic zealots who will have to be taken care of. but, it would be best to have relatively "honest" politicians in charge to do the job, rather than the robber barons in office currently. at another level, the current administration is actually only middle level management, and take their orders from the small group of ultimate psychopaths who "own the planet". their agenda is not only to become richer and more "powerful", but to subjugate the planet's population as completely as possible through any and all means, none of which will be humane or pleasant. do some research and stop being in denial.

If someone comes into your land, your country, bombs you, kills your wife, mother and kids, and you are fighting them, according to Bush and Blair They are terrorists.

Using lies, deciet, and treachery, going against international will, alleging that some country has WMDs you attack a soveriegn country, kill thousands, Miam millions, destroy thier social fabric, loot thier wealth, bring the nations economy to shatters, and you are doing the world some good.

Did you listen carefully to the news? It's Republicans AND Democrats that are opposing the President on this one. Three Republican ex-military men are against it. One is McCain, who was a prisoner of war. If Bush gets this bill passed, it could be very bad for our servicemen if they were ever captured. Bush wants to change national laws when it comes to prisoners of war. I suggest you do a little more research on this..

Ok I'm a liberal....well democrat which is so different...i don't care what the general population of republicans say (like my father). And first...I support the troops 100% and understand why we haven't left Iraq.
