Most folks that only type on occsion can type like 15 or 20 words per minute. 40 words per minute is what most employers require of anyone hired to type.......

It really depends on your typing speed. In the business world people are usually required to type a minimum of 60 words per minute. In reality, most people type slower. Anyone who has taken a typing course, whether in high school or through a computer typing course can usually type between 35 to 50 words per minutes. Is english your native tongue? If not it might be a little harder for you to pick up on the speed. Given time though you should be able to at least do the typical 35 to 50 words per minute. Hope this helps.

There is no typical amount of words per minute that Americans can type. Many people can't type well at all, while an experienced typist who types daily might be able to type 80 words a minute.

Depends on the native. It's anywhere between 0 and over 100. Just keep practicing and trying to reduce errors while you increase your speed. Don't do one without the other.
I only type about 50 wpm even though I do tons of typing. A friend of mine does about 70-80 and he still types with two fingers. Good luck.

Most people can type about 30 wpm. If you're looking for a typing job they usually want about 60 wpm.
