Have the torque convertor checked in the transmission. The GM's are famous for locked up convertors that cause the engine to stall when put into gear.

the rpms are dropping too low therefore shutting it off...i had that prob for awhile and I had to change some sensors (it's been awhile) to get it right again. I am sure someone can explain it better here....other than that don't try to rev the engine as you shift to drive you will rip up the tranny

if you keep your foot on the gas the whole time does it still shut off??? if it doesn't shut of when you have your foot on the gas and it is in drive it may be your oxygen censor. I had that problem once. hope it helps. But it could be a thousand things.
