What in the world could this be? I haven't had any injuries to my hand. Could it be a nerve thing? This is so weird, I'm nervous about it.

Sounds like you've pinched a branch of the ulnar nerve, which is a nerve that comes right around your elbow across your wrist and into your hand. Usually its just minor inflammation that resolves over a few minutes to hours. You don't need to do anything special, but if it lasts more than a day or two you could take an antiinflammatory like Motrin or Advil.

That's not carpal tunnel, which is the nerve at your wrist that controls the thumb and next 2 1/2 fingers. It's a nerve close to your elbow. Just be careful not to press on this area.

This is a classical sign of Ulnar tunnel syndrom i.e. affection of the ulnar nerve, you are true,(similar to carpal tunnel syndrom) & there are many causes some traumatic & some not.
you need to see a neurologist first or a orthopedic surgeon second.

Go see a doctor if this persists. You could have had a small stroke, or MS, or another nerve disorder.
