I called an A/C guy through my home warrenty and he came out last week and said my A/C needed a part, that he would order it, and install it this week. I paid him a 55$ service call fee.
He came out today to put the part in and charged me another $55 service call. Is this right?

the charge is $55 dollars for every time he comes to your door, even if he does nothing. thats the service call charge.

Being that i work in that field , yes it is, we don't work for free. that basically counts as 2 service calls we get paid to asses the problem and fix the problem dude your not getting screwed. you got off cheap real cheap , imagine if you weren't under warranty, you would have been bent over the kitchen counter. The going rate is usually $80,and that is just for showing up then its another $70 an hour there after.Be glad you were under warranty.

Sounds fair to me warranty or no warranty. Basically you had 2 service calls. Imagine if your boss calls you in to work to finish a job started day before. Since you started it yesterday... Should you get paid for 2nd day?

The person who came out to you has spent time on your behalf. It's only reasonable to pay for someone's time. By the way, I'm just an ordinary working person...not a contractor!

I'm no contractor, but this doesn't sound right. Was he there the same amount of time he was before? This may be his hourly rate. What was the price of the part he installed?

yes
and he has min service fees to cover his overhead
when we send a guy out from out shop it's a 2 hour min at 75.00 per hour plus parts and or run time weather he gets the job done in 1 min or 2 hours.

Yes that is normal. He came out two times, he get paid two times. Once for finding out the problem, and once for fixing it. I know it sucks, but that is right.

Yes, it is (nowadays) "normal", like the car mechanics that charge you $70 - $90 just to tell you what they would charge you to fix your car!

yeah, Thats pretty normal. 110 dollars doesn't cover that much in expenses, given gas drive time, etc.. You're not getting ripped off.
