Hi, I believe it is absolutely safe. Just always make sure that your web browser says www.ebay.com. I am pretty sure that you do not have to give Ebay any credit card information unless you are setting up a selling account. I could be wrong though. I am a seller primarily & I signed up a long time ago.

SIgning up for eBay and giving them your credit card info is the same leap of faith that you take when you orer anything from anybody over the internet or the telephone. eBay is a reputable company and you can trust them. The only way they know if YOU are reputable is to get a credit card number from you.
I have been buying and selling on eBay for six years now and I have never had a problem related to misuse of my credit card information or my PayPal account. You'll want a PayPal account if you get serious about buying or selling on eBay.

Make sure its Ebay or Paypal, then it should be OK. I personally would only buy on Ebay with a credit card. The times I have had problems my credit card has refunded my money. I received NO help from Paypal or Ebay despite all their safety claims to lure customers.

eBay is pretty safe, provided you know for sure that it's eBay you're dealing with. One of the easiest ways is to make sure the link in the address bar starts with https://ebay not just the regular http:// That little s is important. Also look for the little locked padlock down the bottom of your browser page. If it's locked, it should be a secure site.

Ah, ebay... Well, make sure, VERY sure that it is not a phising site. If it is the real deal, it should be safe.
Remember, ebay has it's reputaion on the line. If someone gets scammed it will be their fault. Therefore they take great care to protect your money. They even have a tool bar that verifies ebay sites/links so you don't give away your password by accident.

The credit card info is for fees taken from the items that you have sold. The total of the fees is charged to your card every 30 days.
The one thing ebay will not ask for is the PIN number of your credit card.

Giving ebay your credit card is ok, but it is not necessary to give it to them if you are going to pay with a check or money order.
