OH..damn! I totally agree with you. My father is still working, unfortunately, and is 57 and disabled. It's not fair, because he didn't get nothing in return, when fighting for a good cause.. you know? He was in Vietnam and people treat him like **** - as in, they do not even care if he served or not. It's sad how veterans get walked on... they say "If you join, you get benefits... blah blah blah"... In my opinion... BULL ****! It's their way of saying: Join us... It's a bunch of lies and a line of ****.. know what I mean?

I have been to many different V.A. hospitals around the midwest. I have noticed that there are some disgraceful hospitals that shouldn't even be open. Then again, there are some very nice facilities. The vets. do recieve pretty decent healthcare. The problem lies in the fact that there isn't enough healthcare workers at a lot of the facilities. It is such an ordeal to even recieve the appropriate care. It isn't much of a secret about the horror stories that are coming out of the facilities. There has been numerous investigative reports aired on prime time t.v. shows concerning the lack of workers and the "substandard" care that the vets. recieve. I agree with you though, we need to staff the V.A. hospitals better and change some of the policies. that would eliminate some of the problems of recieving adequate healthcare at the various hospitals.

I believe so. My wife and I support DAV (Disabled American Vets). The government is even now reducing the levels of care previously available to American vets. There are nearly 20K+ wounded service men and women that need our help.

Find a way to help whether it's giving to DAV or some other form of assistance.

Most Americans do not know disabled vets unless they are related to them or have neighbors......they are not on the front pages...like the Iraq war...and other news....if we were shown what is going on in the Vets hospitals we would freak out from what I've heard. After all that the men and women in all the military services have done for each one of us....with their lives and their suffering from their wounds....we should hang our heads in guilt and count our blessings for what was given for us....I don't know what it's going to take for our government leaders to wake up and see that the men and women who have given everything for us to live in peace....should be the first ones to receive the best health care that is available....they should not take the leftovers....God bless you....never give up...be proud...many are thankful for all you did for us....

Yes. And that sucks. Every single person that has served in combat for this country should be receiving FREE health care for life.

this is not true. the VA health care system has made drastic improvements in the last 20 years. it is now rated as the number one (#1) health care system in the US. that would make it the best in the world also.

both my brother and myself are Viet Nam vets enrolled in the VA system, so i speak with experience.

It is pretty dispicable that we do not take better care of our veterans. I think most people have no idea about it, and others deny it to be possible.

people who are disabled are not on SSI, they are on SSD and therefor on medicare not medicaid. Medicare sucks as much as the VA and I know this because I am on both and they both bite butt.
