I have never thought about this before. I guess blind people wonder about this all the time. I think you would get to know people for who they are and not what they look like if you could not compare them to yourself. I also think that you would naturally think you were just as cute as anyone you had ever seen. How did you think of such a question?

As they say, you will not miss what you did not have. If one was born not knowing what one looks like, it would be easier dealing with it and life can be normal. I guess, one could live a more satisfying and contented life because the inner aspects in life, like personality, character, values, being centered internally, are honed and given more importance rather than being physically self-conscious and emphasizing on the physical aspect. One would not be so worried about outer beauty, how to hold on to it and holding off the ravages of time.
On the other hand, if one has lost the ability to know how one looks like, it could be frustrating and it could be a difficult situation at the start. But then again, depending on the attitude of the person, it could bring a lot of benefits as this would bring in the realization that not everything in this world is all about the physical aspect and it could be a joy to discover the other dimensions of being alive. The world today is so focused on superficiality, on the importance of physical beauty, that celebrities have become gods. Botox, cosmetic surgery, beauty products have become must-haves of society. Being physically ugly is a curse more than a bad character. Having said these, we need to defocus our values and it would do humanity a lot of good if we see a little less of ourselves and focus on the inner aspects of our lives.

Might as well (that we do not know how we looked like). After all, we are always concerned about how others looked at us. We then changed or get our emotions worked out because of some of the comments. Not knowing how we looked like and just getting the different impressions formed by others might be interesting after all.

Well, I've worked with blind people and not one of them ever asked me what they looked like or what I looked like. They judged people by the sound of their voices and by their actions. Personally I think there might be a lot of peace in not knowing what you looked like. Appearances wouldn't be as important as they are know and I think you wouldn't be so eager to tell other people they didn't look good because there would be no way of knowing what you, yourself looked like for a fact. So in a way I think people would be better off if they didn't know what they looked like.

i guess if you couldn't look at yourself, life would be a lot simpler and things would take on a deeper meaning. People will learn to spend less on what makes the superficial stand out and work more on things that are not just skin-deep.

Mirrors show our reverse-image. If we could all look at ourselves on video, it would be more accurate.
But, I'm not sure knowing what we look like is either good or bad. Animals don't know what they look like, but they recognize other animals like them.

God!!!! If everybody felt that way...if how one looked would no longer be hyper-important......
how would we ever elect anyone???
on Intelligence??? on Values???? on Honesty????
Are you fomenting revolution??? trying to destroy our political system???
And the entertainment business.....
actors/actresses would have to have Talent? Acting ability???
and the news reporters....
would actually have to get the news...not just report it???
and vampire hunters...
no mirrors....no way to check on the vampire's lack of reflection
Reflect on what you are asking ....
