why this category is here, instead of simply in family/ relationships?

I think I might have it. The Christians want this here to drop in at times. The Family & Friends area doesn't want the LGBT influence at all. They may be blocking it from families that don't want their kids exposed to LGBT's or the types of questions that show up here, especially by those that hate us.
Does that sound plausable?

some people prefer that the gay,lesbian,bi and transgendered
communtieis still be segrogated,same sex marrage is'nt recognisedin the united states but is leagal in canada,if you join the military there is a dont ask dont tell policy,I live in a small town in california where it is frowned upon,I live less than 100 miles from san fransisco where it is openly accepted,I am a life long bisexualcrossdresser who is currently engaged to a pre op transgendered woman, my mom is very accepting of me but my dad disowned meand vowed never to speak to me ever again,we will never fully be accepted into society so we need something that we can call our own I hope I have given you a better understanding of why we have this catagory,thanks sarah

Good question, it does seem a bit seperatist to have LGBT's stuck out in "cultures and groups" rather than "family & relationships."
It just adds to the stigma that our relationships and families don't count.

I agree...it might keep us from getting those irritating religious questions and answers on the screen all the time.
