I have an old bathtub with the finish worn off the bottom. I've read pros and cons about both methods of refinishing, but was wondering if anyone on here has had personal experience with either method?

neither will last long
best to replace the tub
the tub is no that expensive ( about 200.00 for a Kholer standard tub ), its the labor that kills you in tub replacement.
