Heck yeah! I can't believe that Macy's will be in Chicago now. Nothing against Macy's but it is an *East Coast* store. Fields is pure Chicago, or was. It's just wrong . . .

Federated Department Stores (which own Macy's and lots of other stuff as well,) bought May Department Stores (which operated Marshall Fields and others) last fall for slightly less than 12 billion. They are re-branding many of them as Macy's. They have done this all over the country with other acquisitions.

I think marshall fields taking over hudson's was bulls*t. Hudsons was a landmark in downtown Detroit until marshall fields took it over...... see the big fish gets swallowed up by the even bigger fish.

I thought it totally sucked when Marshall Field took over Frederick & Nelson's, which was a landmark Seattle store. I got over it, and so will you.

I do. Dayton's used to be my favorite store, then Marshall Fields took over Daytons, now Macy's is taking over Marshall Fields. I am with you!!!

Macys took over the Bon Marche' in Seattle and they raised the prices for the same stuff they had before.
