If I get extra change back I always give it back. I used to work in retail and know how it is if your register drawer is off.
Once I was at Walmart and I went up to a self checkout. While I was checking out I saw there was a 10 dollar bill in the change drawer. I did keep that. I figured if I gave it to the service desk I am sure that they would just keep it because there was no tracing the money.

Never at an ATM. Dozens of times by cashiers making mistakes. Never kept any. Can't sleep at night knowing I did wrong.

i once got 20 bucks too much back in change and i gave it back to the girl...didn't want her to get in trouble. as for the atm, no. I did work at a bank once and our system was down so it would give you any amount of $$ you wanted even if you didn't have it in your account. Needless to say a lot of people got over drawn that day.

a few yrs ago at super market checking out w/my order I gave cashier my paycheck to pay for order and when she gave me change she forgot to take out money for order. Returned and gave her the money because I feel its bad luck to keep. Food order came to over a hundred, thats what I gave back.

Yep. Just 10 dollars and i kept it too. That's when i was younger but i wouldnt do it now.
