we can't control it...sure it affects our lives but aren't there any more interesting subjects? so why is it that talking about the weather is so popular?

If you mention the weather, people will know exactly what you're talking about and be able to contribute to the conversation. It's the one thing that no one needs to have explained.

It's probably the only safe and non-controversial topic that affects all of us. When was the last time you had to worry about how you described the weather? You can't say that about politics, news, religion, relationships or even popular culture today.

the weather is not the best conversation topic, you think?....it's a last resort kinda topic, when you're not interesting and have nothing interesting to say....lol the weather is neutral topic in case you think you might blunder on another topic, and it's easy to talk about....anyone can comment on the weather without knowing a thing. and it starts off conversation.

When there is an awkward silence in the middle of a conversation, talking about the weather can rescue the situation.
