I actually asked a similar question before. I think a person's avatar affects whether or not they get answers and even if they get picked for best answer or not.

No. It is based on how accurate there answer is and how informative their answer is. The question is answered depending if people know how to answer it, or if it is not a spam/stupid type of question.
