something seems to be lacking.........is it the acting, the script writing, what? compare today's actors/actresses/movies to that of a couple decades ago and more.....seems like there's one great movie every five years nowadays......compare it with say, the 70s, when there was Jaws, Star Wars, Rocky, Superman, The Godfather, or the 80s with E.T, Indiana Jones, National Lampoon's, Beetlejuice, Big.....what's your opinion.....

The majority of the so-called big-movies coming out in the theatres is pure junk. But, among the junk, once in a while a really good one comes along. And, among those, rarely a memorable one comes out. Anyway, I think it is due to the fact that we are so fast-paced now compared to the 70s or 80s as you mentioned. That might make even a memorable movie today as bland by yesteryears' standards.

Lack of time and lack of creativity. People are in a hurry to get out the scripts to make a quick buck so they rush it, even if it sucks. And the ideas suck to begin with, so there's nothing there to hold even the suckiest script together to begin with. There's no heart and soul put into some of these movies, it's just following the formula of what miraculously worked to creat similar clone movies hoping to get another magical money maker.

There are some fantastic movies out there but they are more sophisticated than the ones you mentioned. They are for adults. Hollywoodland, The Illusionist, The Black Dahlia -- all sensational and Sean Penn's new movie, All the King's Men, looks like it will be outstanding.

Judging by the way actors live their lives...
I don't think they have a clue about real life to portray it on the big screen.

Slevin.. it's pretty good.
Also check out Clone Wars, Vol 1 & 2.. these cartoons were better than Lucas' 1, 2, & 3 !
