Go to GRC.com and download the free program "Shoot the Messenger" to turn off Windows Messenger Service (note: this is NOT the same as MSN Messenger. Then, download SpywareBlaster from www.javacoolsoftware.com then download the latest updates and activate all the protections. That'll keep many of the popups at bay so you can clean them out. Then download Spybot from www.safer-networking.org and go through the setup process, which includes downloading updates and immunizing. You can also get AdAware and Ewido, since no one antispyware program catches everything. Once you've downloaded the latest updates for everything, reboot into Safe Mode and run the Spybot scan, delete as recommended, and then do the others in sequence. Do your antivirus scan while you're at it. If you go to fixmypcmike.com, click on "Free Tips & Advice", and go to the blog post on antispyware programs, there are detailed instructions for setting Spybot to automatically update and run scans overnight. Just leave your computer on and online overnight at least once a week to keep your spyware protection up to date.
And DON'T go to that link!

these are advertisements brought to you by sites you visit. You can try a pop up blocker which will stop many of them, but some will still get though. The sites you visit use popup advertisements to try to pay for their hosting/bandwidth fees. you can also try to get the content from somewhere else such as rss.

You have spyware.

Go to:

http://www.safer-networking.org/

and download Spybot Search and Destroy. It's free and it cleans unwanted cookies, spyware and other junk from your machine.
