We were given a project on clothes and one of the tasks is:
Do a market research on the different types of clothing that are suitable for teenagers.
I don't understand the task, can someone explain it to me?

It is asking you to find out information of suitable clothes for teenagers, by asking questions and logging the results, using numbers if possible.
For example: Make a list of suitable and unsuitable clothes for teenagers. Go to clothes shops and ask staff, customers, people in the street, your friends etc. for a yes or no answer. Add up your answers and give your result - for example: Jeans are suitable clothes for teenagers and fur coats are not....you know, something like that. Also say why. Any better?

Basically a market research is exactly what it says, you are researching the market, in this case it is teenagers and more specifically the clothes they wear and what is suitable. I would put it into a search engine and see what comes up. Try "suitable clothes for teenagers" I bet you will find something at least a starting point.
It sounds like this project is more about what is acceptable for teenagers to wear rather then what they want to wear.

Sounds like they just want you to do a survey to see what kinds of clothes are considered suitable for teens. You can do this with paper surveys you or ask in person shoppers at certain stores (be sure to get manager's permission first), or you can even ask as people come out of the stores in a mall. Be sure to get age and gender (might not matter in some stores, but in others it may) to see if the opinion of what is suitable varies by those factors.

Firstly, ask your teacher. S/he should have explained what this meant.
Secondly, "market research" just means "have a look at what is available". Go to some stores and takes notes on what sort of clothes are sold for teenagers. Use categories like boys', girls', tops, pants, shoes....you get the idea.

are you studying market research in class...double check your book... look up market research techniques on line... maybe read some teen magazines...
I think you're supposed research what kinds of clothing will sell to teens and are teen appropriate..
take in to account climate, the economic group you are trying to target
Ultimately, I think you should go to your teacher for a more detailed explanation of what is expected....

Well your task is know what teenagers like to wear. You can do that by posting a pole Question on the net for people to vote in or issueing leaflet for teenagers to answers your require Qs on what sort of jeans they like to wear etc, stuff like that.

i think s/he means by suitable is appropriate and does it affect the way teenagers act. cuz some clothes promotes violence and we have a problem with that today. so i think she is trying 2 ask r some type of clothes appropriate.

Ask different people what they think is suitable for teens. ask teens, parents, grandparents. what grade is this for?

basicly find close that most teenagers wear, and is appropiate. . .i think it could also mean fabrics designs and stuff too. . .srry hope this helps
