You could just create an email, click ATTACH (or select it from the menu) then navigate to the file and double click it to select.
SOME email systems, mostly corporate ones, won't allow a file of the .doc or .xls format through their filters.
In Windows XP, if you just right click on the file & select send to Compressed Folder, it will make a file with the same name but the .zip extension.
Attach the .zip file instead of the .doc file. That should allow it to bypass the filter and also makes the file smaller & faster to send/download.

If its microsoft word, attach it to your email and send...
