Perhaps to you, world means earth. Not to me. For me, world means experiencing. This includes the earth, galaxies, sub-atomic particles, waves, frequencies and infrequencies. Not all experience is direct sensory experience. With a microscope or telescope we experience beyond the limits of our senses. With compassion we experience the experiences of others. With music we might experience dance or with dance we might experience music. Curiosity opens the invisible to inspection. Belief shuts our minds to anything that doesn't fit our opinions or dogma. Living in the realms of experience is the world that I know.

So far you got physical definitions of the world Raman K is most close to it, However, The Word "World" is also a mind state and can be only limited by once imagination. People often creates their own world within their surroundings and lives right by it. as mentioned earlier it is subjective and can only be define by the individual. for example, A tribe living deep in African jungles has very little to none infatuation of outside world and there for its limited to their current knowledge only I will suggest that you read a small story book call "Indian Giver" if you can get from somewhere and will let you understand the mental state so call WORLD. Earth generally refers to the planet whereas the world refers to human inter-action.

in general terms "world"usually means "earth" but the whole universe is also referred to as world. either is correct.

NO WORLD MEAN DOES NOT ONLY EARTH BUT ALSO ALL THE ENVIORMENT SURROUNDING EARTH INCLUDING THE SUN THE MOON AND OTHER STARS. ALL THE CHEMICAL ALL THE GASES ALL THE LIGHTS AND ALL THE DARKNESS THE WORLD IS SO BIG WORD THAT I CANNOT COUNT THE THINGS WHICH IT INCLUDES. EVEN GOD IS ALSO PART OF WORLD.
