Actual numbers are not available. There are ways to adjust how you measure to support any argument. The numbers are generally biased according to who is giving them.

That said, everything that made the U.S. the U.S. has been sold out by corrupt politicians and their cronies. At the rate we're borrowing money from China alone, our children will live in a bankrupt nation. In the name of protecting Freedom, our constitutionally given freedoms have been stolen.

Terrorism is nurtured by our aggression. Human decency is undermined by our torture. Truth is compromised by our president. In the middle of this scenario, why WOULD the deficit make sense?

Your surplus number is insanely inaccurate. There was never a 2 trillion surplus. The highest surplus during Clinton's term was $237 billion.

"Yoho, those ARE the numbers."

Wrong. Your surplus figure is very WRONG. You have no links either.

Yes, it makes sense. Look at the performance of financial markets in the US and overseass during the the same time period. The US government collects fewer tax revenues during a recession. It's not just because of overspending by the government, it's because of lower tax collection.
That surplus was the largest surplus in history and it came at a time when the economy was roaring, not because of political decisions at the time.
I know what you're getting at, but please, look at other factors regarding tax collection.
