i just had a baby 4 months ago and i am having a little trouble. i just started my first period and can't get the tampons to stay in. i didn't start using them until my son was 3, so i don't know if this is normal. i can't go back to pads, i think it's just so gross. i mean after 4 months shouldn't it have shrank back enough to keep a tampon in? i haven't had sex or anything...am i just out of practice? i thought i was getting it in right because i can''t feel it there but then not even an hour later i feel it coming out. what is the deal? am i doing something wrong?? when i DO get it to stay in only one side absorbs and the other side stays white, then it leaks into the panty liner. i'm so confused.

Maybe you are using the wrong size or type of tampon. I have found different brands fit differently than others. You mentioned "one side absorbs and the other side stays white" this issue is answered in the link below.
Hope this helps.

I guess you should try another one which is a little bigger. The vagina adjusted its size as to fit the baby coming out. If it bothers you alot, you better see your OB. They can tell you the real reason for such. As for my opinion, pads are okay, actually..tampons are the ones making us prone to infection since you are actually inserting it while the pads stay outside. well..it also depends on which is more comfortable to you. Hope this helsp. God bless!

If I were you, I would go to my OB/GYN and see about having vaginoplasty to restore your vagina to its former size. Otherwise, you're just going to have to wait for things to shrink back into shape as nature allows. You could also try Kegel exercises, and, if you don't already do so, start hitting the gym. That'll help. Good luck, and congrats on your new baby!

That is part of the problem with not breast feeding- the uterus and vagina return to their former size and shape much faster when you breast feed, and the period doesn't return as long as you breast feed for more than a year.
Use the pads, and reduce your risk of cervical cancer.

Are you using the right kind? If you are using the junior ones they are much thinner. Try using different brands and if you still have trouble call your obgyn and ask him/her what the problem could be.

Ask your doc about that....some women dont shrink back to normal, some do...you may just not be 1 of them that do obviously...there are excersises that may help in that area (kagels?)

I would go back to the OBGYN and have them examine you to make sure you have nothing internally wrong.
It's not for us to guess about what is wrong just from your description.
