Men alone would rule your domain. And the husband of the family could sell you off and or kill you if you do not obey his every word. And your children were at the mercy of your husband and he could sell them off at and adolescent age for money or forced marriage.

These beliefs are held in a place I never want to visit nor acquaint myself with. You probably know what I am writing about. Fanaticism is the evil to all the cra_ that is happening right now in the world. And we as Americans have to protect our given right to have freedoms in the world that other countries believe they hold like ours. We must stand against this evil from the earth. The future generations of children will suffer cause from the represive governing of the future Hugo Chavezs, Kim Jongs Il, Mahmoud Ahmadinejads, Fidel Castros, and all those other mongers

Erin Nava read the entry by Kazak, you might learn something, this isn't about you Erin, its about a state of being and the threat to our individual freedoms. You're so tight into yourself you're tongue must be overlapping in your mouth.

I sure wouldn't want to live that way. I don't know what I would do given the situation I was born into that lifestyle. As it stands I might end up dead trying to fight back and because I would never let my husband , if I was married sell my children or hurt them. I would hate to be at the Mercy of a Man also. I would have to have some say so. So this is how I feel. God Bless you!

And here are how many questions exactly?
I will chop it if you don't mind. And if you mind I will chop it anyway.

Ladies, could you submit yourself to religous rule and have to wear a vail with full body cover everywhere you
traveled?
HARDLY, BUT YES.

And have to accept a subserviant position in society.
DOUBT, BUT MIGHT BE.

Breaking a closed society's rules can result in you being physically punished and or killed.
NO.

Men alone would rule your domain.
COULD SURVIVE.

And the husband of the family could sell you off and or kill you if you do not obey his every word.
COULDN'T ACCEPT.

And your children were at the mercy of your husband and he could sell them off at and adolescent age for money or forced marriage.
COULDN'T ACCEPT, EITHER.

NOW!!!
If you never were somewhere, you are not sure how the things are there, so NOT EVEN YOU EXACTLY KNOW what you are writing about. (which you proved) Fanaticism is evil, but there are lots of types of it and one of them is thought that it is up to one country to 'solve' problems of the rest of the world.

And...
You described radical Muslim country in 15th century.

Hugo Chávez is President of Venezuela, which is mainly Christian country. In his country he is not treated as tyrant. And I just red his bio, which is more than you did and didn't find what you want to refer to.

Kim Jong-il is Chairman of the National Defense Commission of North Korea, which is communist-atheistic country and if there is going to be religious people they are from Buddhism and Confucianism, some Christianity and syncretic Chondogyo.
Again, not that bad as you described.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is president of Iran - finally one Muslim country. OK - he is too radical for my taste.

About Fidel Castro I refuse to discuss, but he is in Cuba - Christian country again.

So...
WHAT WAS EXACTLY YOUR QUESTION?

PART2
Your question is in women's studies part, and questions here usually ask personal opinion. If my personal opinion hurts you, you probably should put more precise question.

By the way, you are not threatening, practicising coercion, blackmail, induction, rephrasing a void, seduction, and all that goes with the above, for ah! there are (were) indeed many ways to skin a cat, you took the nose dive, you could have done better, kindly also try other ways, please, ladies are ladies, they can go with anything, they hardly mind anything, they love to loose, they have little to say, they are weak, frail, easily fooled, simple, kind, concerned (for this reason the world is still a world), warm, one can lead them anywhere to anywhere, they will follow, their breaking point comes way too late, and even then they are not decided whether it was right or wrong, they usually cannot decide, they however, train their kids what their male folks want them to do in any household anywhere in the world, they are hapless souls, helpless, because God made them kind inside. My heart goes out for the women. So, you were saying something? :) would love to chat with ya all night all day long. You are INDEED an amusing person.:)

Kazak brings up some interesting points, but I disagree that if I saw a woman in a burka that the appropriate thing to do would be to treat her like dirt. If my goal is equality, wouldn't it be better to treat her with as much respect as I require for myself? I think I would prefer to walk the walk of equality rather than assume I am superior and can treat her that way.

I don't think they have the choice on whether or not to submit themselves, it is decided for them. I'd have a problem with living under those rules because I have known freedom and I have known being controlled by someone else who didn't have my best interests at heart. I choose freedom no matter what the cost. There is no other choice as far as I'm concerned.

there are groups similar to those listed above here in the USA, the polygamists that live in the mid-west, we don't do anything to protect those women and children very often, isn't that just about the same?

I have to think that many of the women in that society are brought up and no nothing else. Also, they would probably never say if they had an issue with it from fear of retaliation.
Who you should ask are reformed women from that area.

absolutely not....but then, I do not follow a religion of strict doctrine. Any religion where men are dominant and women subservient is not the religion for me.

well i think if you are brought up that way, you would do it, but if you arent you would think they are freaks, which i think, because if u dont have your freedom , you dont have anything do u? the only reason those men make their women cover up is because they dont want other men looking at them.
