(1) USB WIFI - through AD-HOC connection (see link how to connect). This is the best thing and about US$20 (NT$650 here in Taiwan). Others are:
(2) Bluetooth.
(3) Infrared.
where both are also USB dongle types and could probably transfer files. Whereas the first one (USB WIFI), when connected through AD-HOC, you may connect the other computers to the Internet using proxy servers like FREEPROXY.

You can share all resources that you would normally share using a internet connection. Wireless technology however is limited by the area/range/proximity of the two systems. So while there are Wi-Fi [Radio] devices that need to be installed at both ends, there is also the newer - Bluetooth. However, for either of this, you will need to have administrative rights [legally and physically] on both systems to install these connection devices [also requires some software installation]

You can connect them using bluetooth. USB bluetooth devices are cheap! This will only allow you to access files on the PCs. You cant run programs from other drives.
