I'd get it appraised, then sell it.

I would look it up on the internet to see if you get any relevant information first. Then I would go to an reputable antique shop and get it appraised. It may be worth something and it may not. Either way it may have future value and is something nice to have. Just make sure that in the event it is valuable you go to a few places before you make any decisions, there are too many scam artists in this world.. Good luck, hope you have something great.
PS. Dont forget Antiques Roadshow, it is a really great show where people bring old things they have. Some people have bought items at yard sales for a $1 and come to find out it is worth thousands++.

I'm not surprised about all the "I'd sell it!" answers. First I'd read it. Then it would e a family aire loom...did I spell that right? Oh well, u know what I mean. I'd want it passed down from generation to generation and I'm sure there will e some idiot in the family that thinks money is more important and hopefully by that time he/she will be able to make a small fortune off of it. But it wouldn't get sold right away. Money isn't everything...and no I'm not saying that because I have it...because I don't have it but I just think there are more valuable things in life then money. Can I borrow $20.00? Just kidding!

I most likely would not know if it was an ancient thing or not. If I had any suspicions I would find someone that does know about such things and most likely sell it. I have two books that are about 100 years old but are worth nearly nothing. Came down through the family is the only reason I have them in sealed containers.

Read it to make sure it coincided with my beliefs and then if it did I would publish it, if it didn't I would give it a good bath in Clorox Bleach.
