how to open an attachment on my yahoo mail?

when somebody sent me an attachement to my yahoo mail..it never open...

That attachment might be:
(1) virused.
(2) Unreadable.

You can check by yourself, prepare an email with attachment and send it to YOURSELF! Then see if you could open it and if yes, then probably the one sent to you have problems...

Yahoo mail attachments usually go through a scan for virusus and if cleared give you options for opening. These are small bars with something like 'open attachment' on them. Click there and they should come up. If they don't it is possible that they have not been sent in a format that allows you to open it. You can always send it to yourself if you have another site e.g. Outlook. When it comes up there, highlight the message in the menu, click save as under file and put it in My Documents. Then you can go into My Documents and open it. This is the best way to open attachments that have pictures or animation.

In order to open the attachment, you click on the little paper clip icon in front of the attachments name
You should prompt you whether you want to open or save the file
Recommend that you "save" other than open the file
Once saved, go to the file and open it
(In order to open the file, you must have the correct program to open that kind of a file)

Be sure it is not a virus file. Usually, the attachment is bolded and underlined. Click on it, it will take you to another screen, at this point, Yahoo will tell you if it has virus or not. Then click the bolded file, save or open it. My advise: save it on your desktop so you have another chance to check the virus with your computer anti-virus software. You must have the right application to open the file though.
