And have no children. I want children but could not find the right man. Now that I think I have found the right man and have become engaged, he tells me he has had a visectomy. I am so depressed and know my biological clock is ticking. What should I do. I kind of don't want to adopt as I want my own child.

Vasectomies can be reversed.

He hasn't stopped making sperm, he has just had them blocked. so IVF is another option, they will take the sperm from your fiance and an egg from yourself, fertilize it in a test tube and put it back inside you.

Discuss with him that it is important to you to have a baby with both your DNA and hopefully he will see how much you want a baby and will do this for you.

Good luck.

How does HE feel about having more children? Men don't usually get vasectomies if they want children, but there are times when they change their minds. If he doesn't want children, then I hate to break it to you, but he's not the one for you. I'm sure he's wonderful and all, but don't give up on your dream of being a Mom if that's what you want. It would be terrible to be on your deathbed someday and think--I gave up the one thing I wanted so much, and now my life is at a close, and I can't go back and change that. You need to have a serious talk with him about this before you get married. This is NOT a small issue that you can work around.

After talking to your fiancee about it, why don't you go to the doctors and talk about getting a sperm donor?
A vasectomy can be reversed but is a painful procedure... therefore, instead sperm donation might be a better choice?
You can choose the type of looks you'd want because they mark the sperm with what type of eyes, hair, complexion (and many more features)... basically all the genetics of the male that donated his sperm.
You'll never meet this man that donated his sperm, so your future hubby doesn't have to feel jealous and the two of you can both benefit.

I would consider adoption! But, if it is that important for you to have your own children ask him to reverse his vasectomy. If he truly loves you it would be worth the pain. Some people just don't want children though. If that is the case and he obviously doesn't, then maybe you should part.

If the tables were reversed, what would you want him to do? Suppose he wanted the children, but it turned out you were infertile. Would you not expect him to reprioritize, or would you expect that you should break the engagement?

You can ask him to reverse the vasectomy, but first, ask him why he got it in the first place. you can make him sire a child, but you can't make him a father if he doesn't want to be.

can't a vescetomoy be undone? I think it can. I mean if a tubal ligation can be undone then i am sure that can. If he definetely can't give you children and that is what you want then one day you will resent him for not having the life you wanted. You better think this over carefully

If you are truly in love with this man and engaged........consider adoption. As the old saying goes........It doesn't matter who made you ......it is who raised you that makes the parent

If you truly love this man, I would consider adoption. It would have been nice if he had told you this before you were engaged.
